At Banketfabriek Gebr. Van Rooij B.V., we are aware of our social responsibility in the area of sustainability. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is part of our vision and mission. With the help of the sector association VBZ (Dutch Bakery and Confectionery Industry Association), we have developed a step-by-step plan to fully implement CSR in our company. In the context of supply chain responsibility, we can also use the step-by-step plan to inventory our suppliers' sustainability and measures will be taken to expand and improve socially responsible purchasing of sustainable raw materials and packaging materials.

A good example: Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is an international platform in which both industry and society organisations participate. The RSPO has defined criteria that ensure good care for people, the environment and economic aspects. In October 2013, our company was certified for the RSPO Supply Chain Model Mass Balance. By purchasing fats based on sustainable palm oil, we have taken another important step in the area of CSR.

But CSR goes further than just purchasing goods and services. Our employees are a very important asset. So we take good care of them! Continuously monitoring and improving safety at work is therefore an important theme.

The implementation of CSR offers us many advantages: we reduce waste and loss as well as ensuring lower energy costs, lower sick leave and more efficient operation. These savings give positive momentum to continuity and stability within our company, from many perspectives.
